Sometimes it can be hard to put into words exactly why I am so passionate about traveling. Clearly it is something that I love to do and that I invest a lot of time and money into. But where does it stem from and why do travel adventures feed my soul in such a fulfilling way? There are so many facets to the answer, but I think one of the primary reasons is people. The more I travel, the more I realize that no matter where you are in the world, people have things in common at their core. There is always something to be learned from someone else. I think it is imperative in life, to learn about other people and cultures and to realize that although people may be similar at heart, the circumstances from which they come and in which they live are certainly not the same. It is not only educational, but also invaluable, to be able to understand the perspective of others.
I came across this video and find it to be so heartwarming. Through something as common as chocolate, the video exemplifies both the universal nature of people and the differences in backgrounds and cultures. How many of us have not experienced chocolate? I can hardly imagine a world without seeing chocolate on a daily basis-at stores, on TV commercials, in vending machines at work. To imagine harvesting the very ingredient from which chocolate is made, yet never tasting it, is almost unfathomable to me. And to watch as these men enjoy their first bites of chocolate and discover something new is so touching!
I just wanted to share this video with you because, to me, it makes the world feel just a little bit smaller. Meeting people from other cultures and hearing about their way of life is an experience that I absolutely live for when traveling, so I hope this video brings a bit of that feeling to you! Happy Friday!
